Review
For this post I was meant to write a book review, but instead I am going to write a review on a basketball magazine that I read. The name of the magazine is Dime and it was my first time reading a magazine concentrating only on basketball, and I enjoyed it a lot. With Aquille Carr on the cover, it contained large articles about Magic Johnson, Dwayne Wade, Rajon Rondo, Kobe Brynat, Lamarcus Aldridge, and Ben.G. The article I am going to talk about was the one I found most interesting which explained Dwayne Wade’s childhood.
As many may not know Dwayne Tyrone Wade Jr. had an extremely harsh upbringing. Born on January 17, 1982 in Chicago, Illinois he lived with his mother and his older sister. As his mother was a heavy drug consumer, Dwayne saw things a child his age should never see. Before Wade was the age of 3 his parents divorced and his father moved on to get remarried and have two other sons. As Dwayne’s mother started to slip into worse conditions, Dwayne’s sister realized it was time for her to step up, and she forced Dwayne to move in with their father. Within in this time Dwayne’s mother was put in jail 3 times all equaling to 21 months. Dwayne’s father didn’t know how to bring his child’s mother back so instead he led his child to turn to Basketball and Gym. By the time Dwayne was 17 he led his school to three nation championship wins. The last high school game that Dwayne got to play before being drafted into the NBA was when he was 19, and leading his school into their final championship his mother had just came out of jail and decided to go see her son play for the first time in her life. Seeing her son excel so much and show so much passion for the game on court, and feeling the love that came from him after all those years instantly inspired her to change as a person and become clean, and also turn to religion for help. She has now been clean for 19 years and is a priest with a church signed to her name by her son, in who loves her unconditionally.
Reading this article really made me realize that if you want something you have to push through whatever you’re going through, and fight for it. And as I have learnt, life is not always going to be easy, therefore; you always have to put your heart in whatever you plan to do. Usually when I am watching basketball I never really thought of what the players may have gone through to get them there, and unbelievably a lot more players than I thought have had a harsh childhood, which makes me love the game a tremendous lot more.
#1 Comedian
Before this year I never really enjoyed standup comedy, I just always felt as if the comedians aimed for really cheap laughs, and anyone could do that if they really tried. This thought changed after seeing South Africa’s number one comedian Trevor Noah. This comedian is renounced to be the best comedian, in the country at the age of 28.
Unlike most other comedians Trevor strives for jokes that you wouldn’t ever think to make fun of, such as international airport announcers, airport security, races, and most of all South Africa. This is why he is so unique because his jokes are only centered on South Africa, and it is very hard for nonnatives to understand his jokes.
Being the all-around comedian that he is, he was just on Jay Leno’s show showing off a bit of his materiel and he was a sensation. He is currently still in the U.S. and he has been since January, just traveling around to different states and presenting his work. Most of the people that went to see him have fallen in love with him.
Trevor currently has two DVD’s out and each of them have made the number 1 most bought movies on Itunes South Africa. The first DVD/show is called Day walker and he talks about his childhood and how life was for him growing up with a Swiss father and a Xhosa mother, in the apartheid times. The second DVD that came out was the Crazy Normal which was my personal favorite. This one was about comparing South Africa to the rest of the world. If I had not seen any of these DVD’s I would have never had as much respect as I do now for Standup Comedians.
Umoja
The word Umoja comes from the Zulu language and it means the spirit of togetherness. Many of you may not know about this, but Umoja is one of the most successful South African broadways shows. Even though it is playing it has been moving all around the world ever since it started.
The first time I got to see the spectacle was when I was 8 years old, and I've been in love with it ever since.
The show is about the evolution of South African music and dance, one of my two most absolute favorite things. The show kicks off with scenes of the music from the natives of the country and moves on to the phase of city music incorporated a lot of instruments, it proceeded onto the different music that was made when the British invaded, then shifted to gospel music and it closes off the show with the music that is created by the youth of the early 2000’s. The way that each of these different periods in time, are portrayed are about 99.9% accurate. This is one of the reasons that Umoja is so successful.
There about 50 cast members in this production and each of them are hi
ghly talented in whatever they do. Since the show requires you to sing, dance, and act, it was very hard for many of the people who audition make it. But for those who had they had to learn about 15 genres of dances to stay on the show.

American Idol
IT’S SEASON 11!!!!!!!!!!! Now that X factor is over I am back to watching American Idol. Ever since my parents bought me the season 6 DVD set I’ve hooked ever since. I could say that Jordan Sparks is one of my biggest inspirations on the show. Just an ordinary 15 year old girl who went on the show completely unnoticed and took everybody by surprise day to day. For such a young to have so much determination and passion for her doings is very inspiring. Shows no matter you want something age can’t stop you in the slightest manner. This year the three rising stars that everybody should have an eye on is Colton Dixon, Philip Philips, Reed Grimm, and Heejun Han and of course these four are who are routing for.
Colton Dixon is a returning Season 10 artist who got kicked off in the top 42 last year, but gladly he made it to the top 24 this year. Now putting him in America’s hands and without doubt girls will be voting continuously. Colton is also a 20 year old face painter who is tremendous piano player.
Philip (AKA Phil ) Philips Jr. is a North Carolinan pawn shop worker, who is 20 years old. He is new to the competition, and I have no other words to describe him but amazing. He has a very unique voice that has a raspy rock soft edge to it, while makes you fall in love with him. He plays guitar and is perfect.

Rainbow Cake
This weekend my friends and I decided to bake a rainbow cake. We had an absolute blast making and eating the cake. Since we were using six different colours we had to make each layer differently. Each layer was supposing take at least 10 minutes, but it took us 20 minutes to complete the layers and 1 hour to make the mix and the covering. Due to the all the laughing, goofing around, and picture taking.
All jokes aside,it actually takes a lot of skill to be able to put together a 6 layer cake. Being able to handle the fragile food with care when picking it up onto the plate or taking it off the pan, mixing the colors so they are just right and create the exact shade you desire, and even making the mix to come out perfect and making sure the cakes come out fully cooked but not burned. Unfortunately most of all these things mentioned happened the contrary to our expectations, making it even more of an adventure for us to to piece it together for the final result. Being the professional cooks that we are, the final piece came out better then intended.
Thanks to 9gag our baking skills sprouted out, and now we will be baking much much more.
The Master Piece!

Best Sport
NBA
For those who don't know what this is or stands for it is the National Basketball Association. So basically its (professional) basketball that has billions and billions of dollars mixed in with it.
The reason I'm talking about this is because basketball is my favorite sport and I feel that I haven't talked about any sports so far. My all-time favorite team is the Miami Heat which is made up of one of NBA's most talented man Lebron James. Even though many may argue against this because of his very high held personality, personality put aside they know that he is a miracle from the basketball gods. Besides James the heat's members are all great players I'm general. There are two players also standing out and they are Dwayne Wayde and Chris Bosh. 6, 3, 1 (jersey numbers) are the magic numbers of the team that pull the play together. The last two that back this strong trio up is Joel Anthony and Mario Chalmers. Without a doubt both these players are gradually improving game by game, this is starting show much clearer than before. Udonis Haslem is the 6ht player, which means he is number one for those are not starters. Many times when one of the five players has gotten hurt he plays and always does his best to satisfy the team and keep the score on their time. As I previously mentioned all the players who are on this team hit hard with no doubt when put to the test. The other players that I did not mention are Shane Battier, Norris Cole, Eddy Curry, Mickell Gladness, Terrel Harris, Juwan Howard, James Jones, Mike Miller, and Dexter Pittman.
This is a verse of Bow Wow’s song about basketball and I fully agree with the lyrics!
They're playing basketball
We love that basketball
[Lil' Bow Wow]
Yeah, now basketball is my favorite sport
I love the way they dribble up and down the court
I keep it so fresh on the microphone
I like no interruption when the game is on
I like slam dunk, to take me to the hoop
My favorite play is the alley-oop
I like the pick-and-roll
I like the give-and-go
In this basketball,let's go
