#1 Comedian
Before this year I never really enjoyed standup comedy, I just always felt as if the comedians aimed for really cheap laughs, and anyone could do that if they really tried. This thought changed after seeing South Africa’s number one comedian Trevor Noah. This comedian is renounced to be the best comedian, in the country at the age of 28.
Unlike most other comedians Trevor strives for jokes that you wouldn’t ever think to make fun of, such as international airport announcers, airport security, races, and most of all South Africa. This is why he is so unique because his jokes are only centered on South Africa, and it is very hard for nonnatives to understand his jokes.
Being the all-around comedian that he is, he was just on Jay Leno’s show showing off a bit of his materiel and he was a sensation. He is currently still in the U.S. and he has been since January, just traveling around to different states and presenting his work. Most of the people that went to see him have fallen in love with him.
Trevor currently has two DVD’s out and each of them have made the number 1 most bought movies on Itunes South Africa. The first DVD/show is called Day walker and he talks about his childhood and how life was for him growing up with a Swiss father and a Xhosa mother, in the apartheid times. The second DVD that came out was the Crazy Normal which was my personal favorite. This one was about comparing South Africa to the rest of the world. If I had not seen any of these DVD’s I would have never had as much respect as I do now for Standup Comedians.
